Technology: Direct Injection, Variable Valve Timing; and Six-Speed Automatic MPG (City/Hwy): Various At the 2007 North American International Auto show, GM debuted an all new Cadillac CTS for 2008. The new vehicle will offer the same 2.8L and 3.6L V-6 engines options that are currently offered, but will also offer a new V-6 engine that features gasoline direct injection (GDI) technology. The upgraded engine will deliver the performance of a V-8 engine, but fuel economy that may be even better than that of the standard V-6. The GDI technology will also reduce cold-start hydrocarbon emissions by 25%. All variations of the 2008 CTS will come with a six-speed transmission that will contribute to a further increase in fuel economy and performance. The 2007 Cadillac CTS, SRX and STS models all feature engines that utilize variable valve timing (VVT) and mate to a five-speed automatic transmission. These advanced engines and transmissions contribute to improvements in performance and fuel economy. The vehicles are assembled in the state of the art Grand River Assembly Plant in Lansing, Michigan. The new plant is reported to have cost $559 million. In February 2006, GM announced investment of an additional $138 million at the plant in order to expand the body shop for new models. Source: General Motors Corporation
