Toyota utilizes variable valve timing (VVT) technology in its 1.8 liter, 4-cylinder engine. The engine was redesigned in 2000 to include this technology and is currently featured on all versions of the Corolla. The Corolla is built at the New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI) Assembly plant, a joint venture between GM and Toyota Motor Corp.
