The Pontiac Vibe went into production in January 2002 at the NUMMI Assembly Plant in California. Its 1.8L four-cylinder engine features VVT, which provides improved low-end torque, increased horsepower, reduced emissions, and more than 4% improvement in fuel economy. Additionally, the Vibe has an optional GT version that incorporates a VVT engine with lift (VVTL) that further improves output and fuel economy. GM invested $200 million in production of this vehicle.
