GM's 2005 Chevy Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL and GMC Envoy XUV use cylinder deactivation on their optional Vortec 5300 V-8 engine to improve efficiency and increase fuel economy. Vehicles equipped with this option will account for approximately 100,000 units the first year.
